Help make Easter special for those in need

By Amy Shanahan

Castle Pines Village resident Stacy Gaines is at it again! For the fifth year in a row, Gaines and her friends and fellow church members are putting together Easter baskets for homeless children throughout the metro Denver area. The goal this year is five hundred baskets that will be delivered to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, the Denver Rescue Mission, the Denver Inner City Parish, Family Homestead, and a Denver women’s shelter.

The baskets will be filled with hygiene items and necessities, as well as fun items for youth and teens. The group is in need of many donations to make this endeavor a success.

> Needed items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo or body wash, crayons, coloring books, wrapped candy, plastic Easter buckets, cellophane basket bags, pencils, pens, erasers, glue sticks, colored pencils, markers, and fun teen items.

According to Gaines, Project Easter Basket has become very successful over the years, thanks in part to the generosity of readers of The Castle Pines Connection. We hope to continue this tradition! To donate needed items, please contact Stacy Gaines by e-mail. Donations are due no later than April 10.
