Dear Connection:
I noticed the new skateboard park at Coyote Ridge. What is the status of Castle View Park and other future parks for Castle Pines North? – Park Lover in CPN
Dear Park Lover:
Construction of Castle View Park was originally set to begin last fall, but the Castle Pines North Metro District encountered delays in obtaining a critical 6.3 acres of land for the 21-acre park project.
In February, the Castle Pines North Metro District obtained both parcels necessary to begin phase one of the park. However, plans for the $6 million project remain temporarily on hold. Recently, the Castle Pines Parks Authority board voted to temporarily postpone Castle View Park for 120 days until other prospective development opportunities within Castle Pines North (CPN) are resolved.
CPN is a unique community that features three local parks and more than 14 miles of nature trails. The Castle Pines North Master Association contributes 70 percent of yearly HOA dues to the Parks Authority. The Parks Authority is responsible for overseeing funds for the construction of new parks for the community.
The new skateboard park at Coyote Ridge Park was built by the Metro District, along with contributions from the Parks Authority. The Metro District is responsible for maintaining all parks within the community.
To learn more about future park projects, attend a Parks Authority board meeting. Meetings are typically held at 8 a.m., on the third Thursday of each month at the CPN Community Center and are open to all residents.
For questions about parks and open space maintenance, please contact Metro District Parks and Open Space Manager, Charlie Fagan at 303-688-8550, ext. 20, or e-mail charlie@cpnmd.org. Thanks for writing.
