Happy to be back home
After living and working in Southern California for the past 13 years, Matt and Kristy Humphrey are back in their “home” state of Colorado and have settled in The Village at Castle Pines.
“We are back where we belong; we met our neighbors, entertained, golfed, hiked, snowshoed and enjoyed the change of seasons,” said Matt.
Although the Humphreys enjoyed their time out west, they missed Colorado and wanted to be closer to their two grown daughters, Kaleigh and Reilly, who live in Denver.
“It is close enough for us, while still maintaining a safe enough distance from their perspective,” quipped Matt.
Matt, who is originally from Detroit, received his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University where he also played football. He then went on to law school at Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.
Matt practiced law for 25 years before transitioning into the mortgage business 10 years ago. Currently, he is a Certified Mortgage Banker with a top 15, national mortgage company. “Although I enjoyed practicing law, the mortgage industry is much less contentious, and it provides me with the opportunity to serve my community as a whole,” he added.
For the past two decades, Kristy worked as a senior marketing executive in the high-tech industry, and today she is doing consulting work for startup companies.
Originally from Houston, Kristy moved to Boulder at a young age and graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder. The couple met 23 years ago at The Ridge at Castle Pines. Kristy was at a party and Matt was playing golf. He revealed, “She hit on me!”
At the time, Kristy lived in the Denver Tech Center and Matt lived in Boulder. After getting married in 2007, the couple lived in Broomfield before moving to California for jobs, sun and the ocean. They paddle boarded, body surfed and spent most of their free time near the water.
The Humphreys feel blessed to be back in Colorado and are looking forward to engaging in their new passion – pickleball.
“It is just so great to be back home!” said the couple.
