Gov. Ritter orders flags lowered to honor Colorado soldier killed in Iraq
Gov. Bill Ritter has ordered all U.S. and Colorado flags lowered in Colorado on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in honor of Staff Sgt. Justin L. Bauer.
The 24-year-old soldier from Berthoud was killed Jan. 10 in Baghdad. Bauer was a paratrooper assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Medal.
