GOP primary; Candidate for county commissioner

By Chris Bonham

The results are in! On June 26, Republicans in Douglas County selected Roger Partridge as their candidate for County Commissioner District 2, which serves the greater Castle Pines community. Partridge beat out his Republican opponent Randy Reed by a narrow 316 votes.

Partridge will face Democratic nominee Terry Krow in the General Election this November for the seat that Republican Steve Boand will be vacating. Boand was elected in 2004 and again in 2008, therefore fulfilling the term limits of his office.

Both Partridge and Krow will also be running against a candidate from the American Constitution Party. That Party has yet to release the name of its candidate for County Commissioner District 2.

For each of these three candidates, one of the major tests of the General Election will be how they view Douglas County’s current state.

According to a poll done by Hill Research Consultants in partnership with the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners, 63 percent of voters think that the County is headed in the right direction. Only 24 percent believe things are on the wrong track.

As the race for the General Election picks up in District 2, current County Commissioner for District 3, Jill Repella, will be running unopposed in her bid for re-election. Jack Hilbert will fill out the remainder of his term until 2014 for District 1.
