Information provided by God’s Grace Community Church

God’s Grace Community Church (GGCC) had the joy of once again helping to host the Annual Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives Christmas Party for inner city kids on December 19.

More than 200 families from Five Points in Denver attended the event. Festivities included cookie and card decorating, stuffing stockings, and of course a visit from Santa. More than 400 bags of toys were distributed, dona ted by Toys for Tots. It was an afternoon that touched the hearts of everyone who attended.

Reverend Leon Kelly’s Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives (www.opendooryouth.org) exists to reduce street gang recruitment activities and the causes of gang violence by providing positive alternative and family support to at-risk youth. GGCC partners with the organization to build relationships by serving at the after school program and during monthly parent educational events; assisting with holiday parties and summer day camp and offering resources to meet individual needs.
