Future Jag dancers take the floor

Grace Kerr, an incoming freshman on the RCHS Dance Team, assists junior jags during their halftime performance at the youth RCHS boys’ youth basketball game.

The award-winning Rock Canyon High School (RCHS) Dance Team (also called Poms) hosted its summer camp for interested dancers, grades kindergarten through 8th grade. The two-day camp hosted 90 junior jags (elementary students) and future Jags (middle school students). The campers were introduced to pom techniques and dance skills and then performed choreographed routines at the RCHS boys’ youth basketball game.

Future Jag Reagan Rolf, a seventh grader at Rocky Heights Middle School, has two sisters on the RCHS Dance Team. For Reagan it is fun to watch and learn from both of her sisters and she is excited about the idea of being on the team. “The camp was a fun way to get to know the girls I might get to be on Poms with at Rock Canyon. Also, I like learning new dances and performing them,” said Reagan.

On day one of the camp, junior and future Jag campers began training for the RCHS Dance Team, learning skills and working with poms.
