Firm hired to bolster city’s business district

Last month, the City of Castle Pines approved a one-year $50,000 contract with Buxton, a customer analytics firm, in order to provide information about customer behavior to current and potential future retailers in the city’s business district.
“The information provided by Buxton will help the city and others identify businesses that would be a good fit for Castle Pines and have the potential to succeed,” said Don Van Wormer, Castle Pines city manager. “It will also provide information about shopping habits and patterns that will help with the retention of existing businesses.”
The proprietary information gathered by Buxton includes detailed data about who lives and shops in Castle Pines with an aim toward reducing “leakage” – customers who live here but go outside the city to shop.
“We are looking to form positive partnerships with local property managers, business owners, and local chambers of commerce to use this information to improve the quality of life and shopping opportunities for the people who live here,” said Van Wormer.
The contract was signed with an eye toward economic development in the city. “We think this will give businesses tools to make informed decisions,” said Van Wormer.
