The DCS Montessori (DCSM) Fall Festival was a very warm, busy, and fun filled event on Friday, September 30. Taking place in the school’s upper and lower fields this year provided a nice alternative to the previous parking lot venue and allowed easier access to the festivities.

There were some fun new games including the hamster rumble, flying rubber ducks, and a giant basketball game. Balloon tying for wolves, a Brownie Troop penny toss, NZonesports face painting, and several jump castles were all part of the fun. Red Umbrella was there serving Parkway burgers, and Abiding Hope Lutheran handed out root beer floats.

A new event sponsor of the Fall Festival, Healthy Clean, will give a 20 percent discount to new customers if you mention this article. President Reba Harmon and company do thorough house cleaning with environmentally-friendly hydrogen peroxide-based products instead of the usual bleach or ammonia.

The highlight of the day was the hopping dance recital, performed by the DCSM dancers with 45 boys and girls from eight to twelve years old. The kids rocked out to hits like “Let’s Do the Twist” and “Just Dance.” Dance coach, Karen DePretis, has been leading the team since its inception eight years ago. The team performs at school functions and will also be performing later this month at the Castle Rock Star Lighting celebration.

Says DePretis, “This was our first performance at the Fall Festival and the team did an awesome job, with only three weeks practice! We were proud to be asked to share our school spirit with our community.”
