Elitch Gardens chaperone policy
By Carin R. Kirkegaard
In July, sighting a shortage of workers as well as unsupervised youth who have caused problems within the park, Elitch Gardens updated the chaperone policy for all youth visiting the park for the remainder of the season.
Now, all visitors under the age of 15 need to have an adult chaperone while inside the park, and those under the age of 17 will need an adult chaperone after 3 p.m. The park’s definition of an adult chaperone is a parent or legal guardian who can prove they are at least 21 years old with photo identification at the gate. All chaperones will need to remain in the park with their children which would prevent checking kids in at the gate and then leaving. All violators of the new policy will be ejected from the park.
