Election Changes in Store for Douglas County
by Belinda Paredes
Douglas County voters will experience some changes this year when going to the polls. In order to increase convenience and ease for voters, the Douglas County Election Commission has implemented two major changes to the voting process.
The first change is new voting centers throughout the County. These will replace the old polling locations. Castle Pines North residents can now go to the Castle Pines North Metro District office located at 7404 Yorkshire Drive for both early and regular voting. However, for convenience, Douglas County residents can choose to vote at any election center in the County.
Another change voters will see this year is the eSlate voting tablet instead of voting machines or ballots. The eSlate is a legal pad-size, hand-held device that uses a color screen to display the ballot and a wheel to make selections. This new device allows greater accessibility to disabled voters and faster ballot tabulation. Informational brochures about the eSlate are available at all Douglas County Motor Vehicle Offices as well as libraries and other public locations.
