Douglas County School District graduation rate reaches 92%
The Douglas County School District (DCSD) is celebrating some good news. According to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), the district graduation rate reached 92.2% for the 2024 graduation year—8% higher than the state average of 84.2%.
“We are so excited that our graduation rate in DCSD has increased to 92.2% (from 90.8% in 2023). While, of course, our goal is to reach 100%, this again places us at the top of school districts in the Denver metro area,” said Erin Kane, DCSD superintendent. “Thank you to our incredible educators and families for making this happen!”
Since 2010, DCSD graduation rates have increased from 83.1% to where they are today. The graduation rate is calculated for on-time, four-year completions of the high school curriculum. The primary neighborhood feeder high school for Castle Pines is Rock Canyon High School, which boasted a 97.9% graduation rate for 2024.
Other positive stats, according to the CDE, include DCSD’s 18:1 student to teacher ratio and a 93.6% attendance rate for the 2023-2024 school year. Recent DCSD graduates also made an impressive showing: the class of 2024 earned more than $131M in scholarships.
DCSD currently serves 61,851 students. There are nine public neighborhood high schools in Douglas County and a total of 20 schools that offer high school education, including alternative and charter schools.
