Douglas County Gives … where we live
In conjunction with Colorado Gives Day – the annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy – the Douglas County Community Foundation (DCCF) features Douglas County Gives as a way to support local nonprofit organizations and keep contributions and donations in our community (see E Guide insert page 13).
Douglas County Gives is a DCCF online resource featuring nearly 50 local nonprofits out of the more than 2,900 total Colorado nonprofits highlighted as part of Colorado Gives Day. The event provides comprehensive, up-to-date information on the organizations and a safe way to donate online.
According to DCCF board member Bret Feldman, the need to support locally is especially important this year. “The COVID-19 pandemic has brought more visibility to the needs in Douglas County. Unfortunately, local nonprofits are working with the same amount of money – or less in many cases – to address an increased demand for services,” he stated.
Earlier this year, the DCCF launched a COVID-19 recovery fund that granted approximately $50,000 to 22 nonprofits providing local services.
Whether you call it “give where you live” or “neighbor helping neighbor,” the idea of taking care of our community first is gaining more support.
