Douglas County Garden Club Sponsors Local Daisy Troop
by Carin Kirkegaard
The Douglas County Garden Club is sponsoring the “Woodsy Owls” at Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) as part of its philanthropic work in Douglas County. During the program, the Daisy troop that meets at BRE, learned about the environment and how to keep it clean and preserved.
“We measured trees and planted salad bowls (pots with radishes, carrots and chives),” said Annette Loomis troop leader. Next year the troop plans to plant spring bulbs at BRE for everyone’s pleasure.
Garden Club meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month in the meeting rooms at the Phillip S. Miller Library. Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to join. For questions, or more information, contact Kristen Winkler at, www.mommy3esq@aol.com.
