Was there anyone who wasn’t ready to say goodbye to 2020 and bring in the New Year?
On December 19, Douglas County residents were treated to two 30-minute, high-in-the-sky fireworks shows from locations at Rueter-Hess Reservoir in Parker and near Rocky Heights Middle School in Highlands Ranch – both chosen for their wide visibility to area households.
The fireworks show was a spectacle to see in the sky, but was also livestreamed on the County’s website, YouTube and Facebook pages.
“Tonight, with these fireworks, we recognize the end of 2020 and say goodbye to all the challenges and heartbreaks of the year,” stated outgoing County Commissioner Roger Partridge. His farewell message concluded, “May the New Year bring you and yours many blessings.”

As of press time, an additional fireworks show was scheduled to be seen above Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course in Castle Rock on December 31. This, the result of fireworks cancellations due to the fire restrictions in place on July 4, 2020.
