Doing some good in the neighborhood

Kathy Newell, a member of The Village Idiots Cycling Club, joined fellow club cyclists to pick up litter along a section of South Havana frontage road on Saturday, April 27. The club, known for giving back to the community, adopted a section of the road a few years ago as part of the Douglas County Adopt-A-Highway program. They collect the trash every spring and fall. “We all love to get together to ride and have fun, but we are part of the community and like to help out,” emphasized Newell.
Any bicyclist 14 or older can join the “idiots” – from beginner to advanced. The club will continue its current community events and rides throughout 2019 and are tentatively planning on adding some new rides and volunteer opportunities. For more information, visit www.villageidiotscyclingclub.org/.
