Happy Canyon Ranches residents Ann and Gordon Allott were dinner guests of the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department (CRFD) in July after winning a silent auction bid at the Castle Rock Rotary Club’s 2018 annual Ducky Derby event.
Gordon is a Castle Rock Rotary Club member and both he and Ann worked at this year’s event. Ann made a winning bid at the silent auction for CRFD’s donated dinner certificate. When asked why they decided to bid on the CRFD dinner, the Allott’s said, “Having dinner with the Castle Rock Fire Department just sounded like a lot of fun!” CRFD gives approximately a dozen of these dinner certificates to local nonprofit organizations throughout the year as a way to support the nonprofits and build goodwill within the community.
CRFD’s crew prepared a delicious meal of chicken parmesan, garlic bread, Caesar salad and Dutch apple pie. The dinner included a tour of the fire station, crew members’ sleeping/living quarters, and a close look at CRFD’s engines and other vehicles. The vehicle collection included an original 1929 American LaFrance pumper truck that was in service for CRFD from 1929 to 1953. CRFD is located at 300 Perry Street in Castle Rock.
