Castle Pines Village resident and hair accessory designer Kelly Taylor knows that the right finishing touch can mean the difference between looking good and looking great. Inspired by her four-year-old daughter Addison, she’s launched a new business called “Taylor Made,” which features embellished headbands and hair clips.
“A few months ago, I was getting my daughter ready for the day. I looked at her headband and thought, ‘I could make that’,” said Taylor. “I pretty much took that headband apart to figure it out and then started making my own.”
Taylor’s designs range from elastic infant headbands to little-girl headbands and clips to bold floral pieces for women and teenagers. Every headband or clip is handmade by Taylor and no two are exactly alike, but all are multi-layered creations featuring fun embellishments. They come in every color of the rainbow – including several Broncos inspired orange and blue creations – and play off of popular themes like holidays and movies.
“My favorite pieces are inspired by the movie ‘Frozen,’” said Taylor. “They are sparkly and have a snowflake embellishment. Little girls just love them.”
A nurse by training who is a clinical coordinator for OnPoint Urgent Care, a craft-based business is a departure for Taylor, but one she finds a great deal of enjoyment from.
“I have always wanted to be creative, and it’s been so fun to do this,” said Taylor. “I really enjoy seeing the finished product and I especially love to give my creations to others as gifts.”
Taylor also enjoys working with clients to create special accessories for family photos, team uniforms or special occasions. A website is in the works, but in the meantime e-mail Taylor.
