The DCS Montessori Mystery History event is a much-loved tradition that now spans 16 years.
Mystery History sparks interests in all things historical, and this year, 1900 to present day figures made an appearance. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders selected a character and researched their life and contribution to the world.
Students dressed up as Sally Ride, Margaret Thatcher, Ada Lovelace, Arnold Palmer, Nikola Tesla, Robin Olds, Florence Nightingale, Dr. Seuss and more. Students performed for other students and teachers and shared what they learned.
When asked about the event, organizer Ryoko Futasani quoted Maria Montessori, “The child can develop fully by means of experience in his environment. We call such experiences work.” Mystery History participants became immersed in learning about their characters and worked diligently to share their knowledge and excitement, and with that, another Mystery History event is in the books.
