In May, DCS Montessori hosted its first ever Sock Hop. All students in upper elementary grades 4, 5, and 6 were invited, and attendance was very high. In preparation for the event, students from these grades worked together to make posters advertising the event and to create a large array of 50s style decorations to fill the gymnasium.

“Many students and teachers showed their enthusiasm by dressing up in 1950’s style attire, and the DJ played mostly songs from the 50s and 60s,” said Head of School Jeromy Johnson.

According to those who participated in the event, the dancing was contagious. There were plenty of refreshments on hand to keep the students energized as they danced the afternoon away. All who attended, especially the students, are very much looking forward to next year’s sock hop.
