DAR to feature Constitution displays at local library

by Lisa Crockett

The Constitution plays an important role in the life of every American. In recognition of that importance, Congress passed a joint resolution declaring that September 17 to the 23 would be observed as “Constitution Week.” A local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will host a week-long event in observance of the week at the Castle Pines Library.

“The displays are for the purpose of educating the public about our Constitution and the importance of this document to our daily freedoms,” said Mary-Sue Quinn, the Constitution Week Chair for the Piney Creek Chapter of the DAR. “This is especially important during these volatile times within our society and government.”

Congressman Mike Coffman’s office will provide pocket-sized booklets containing copies of the Constitution at display locations. In addition to the Castle Pines Library, displays will also be hosted at the Highland’s Ranch and Castle Rock branches of the library. Students at DCS Montessori in Castle Pines North will also receive copies of the booklet when they hear a presentation at school.

  • “These programs are designed to educate the students in our schools,” said Quinn. “We want to bring this document to the forefront for a week in order to celebrate our individual freedoms which we have been given in this unique document.”

The Castle Pines Library is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 5 p.m.
