Cupid strikes again on a webinar
In 1988 New Jersey, two hearts had a youthful attraction, meeting at a movie theater to see Coming to America, and becoming high school sweethearts. But after going together to prom, Victor Bonney and Jackie McCormick went their separate ways.
Striding brusquely into life, Bonney was a driven young man. Not without a few ups and downs, he benefited from sage advice, moving to Maryland to finish his education to become a certified cardiac sonographer. Called “ultrasound,” sonography is an early imaging test using high-energy sound waves to produce images of inside of the body. Seeking more than just an education, Victor read voraciously about entrepreneurship. It was Jeff Bezos’s wisdom that struck home to Bonney: “You’ll never know if you don’t try.”
And so, Gemini Imaging Group (GIG) was formed. Through careful marketing, Bonney visited doctors’ offices to provide sonograms for cardiologists who could not provide that next, on-site test for their patients. He also provided the service at a price far below hospital and lab competition.
Meanwhile, McCormick went on to obtain a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She moved to Colorado to complete her residency in anesthesia and began practicing in 2003. McCormick found fascination with Castle Pines, living here before returning to New Jersey in 2017.
“We had zero contact over the years but randomly met up again on LinkedIn when I saw Jackie’s profile,” said Bonney. “I reached out and asked if she would be a presenter for a cardiac webinar I was hosting.”
Then Cupid stepped in. After 27 years of separate lives, the couple reconnected. And it did not take them long to realize that the moment was right for both of them. They married and, after convincing him of all the wonders of Colorado, the couple moved as a family to Castle Pines with McCormick’s daughter, Sophia.
Today, Bonney is in his early 50s and on the precipice of cutting-edge success in medicine still leading GIG. His company is now a mobile cardiovascular ultrasound company with locations in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Colorado. He employs seven people, four of them cardiologists.
Dr. Jackie McCormick-Bonney has become an independent anesthesiologist founding DreamWork Anesthesia, PC in Lone Tree in 2020. When the couple isn’t working, they are equestrians seeking to master the art. Bonney practices Kung Fu and is a student pilot. Sophia plays the bass guitar and drums.
At long last, the family is living their ambitious dreams in The Village at Castle Pines.
