Crowfoot Valley Road expansion moves forward

On January 3, the Castle Rock Town Council voted to approve the expansion and move to the design phase of a segment of Crowfoot Valley Road from two lanes to four lanes. Crowfoot Valley Road is a major artery connecting northeast Castle Rock to the rest of Douglas County.

“We all know that Crowfoot Valley Road is growing, particularly north,” said Mayor Jason Gray at the meeting.

Along with additional lanes, the expansion would also add dedicated bike lanes, sidewalks, left turn acceleration lanes at non-signalized intersections, raised medians, and a traffic signal at Sapphire Pointe Boulevard.

The proposed expansion would cover an approximately half-mile stretch of road between Knobcone Drive and Macanta Boulevard in the area just northeast of Crowfoot Valley Road’s intersection with Founders Parkway. Castle Rock Fire Station #155 is adjacent to the proposed expansion area. Construction would begin in late 2023.
