In back-to-back fashion, two of the tennis teams from Castle Pines Village (CPV) claimed state titles this season adding merit to the growing tennis talent and determination happening at the courts off of Happy Canyon Road.
First, the CPV Green 3.0 Ladies team won the coveted state prize on Sunday, August 3. That big win took the ladies west to Salt Lake City from August 22 to August 24 where they competed against the best teams from the rest of the Intermountain Region – Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. In the end, the ladies finished in second place, just one match shy of tying with the first place team from Utah.
“Participating in sectionals was a great opportunity to meet up with teams from other states and play some very competitive matches,” said CPV Green 3.0 Ladies team captain, Carol Lail.
Next up, the CPV Blue 6.5 Mixed Doubles team won the state title on Sunday, September 14. That win means a weekend trip to Las Vegas from October 31 to November 2 to compete for the regional title. While there, the team will play the best of the best from the same Intermountain Region (Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada) and surely enjoy some fun, too.
“Our team winning the Colorado state championship was truly a team effort. We are excited to represent Castle Pines Village in the regional championships as they are a strong supporter of the future of local tennis programs for all generations,” said CPV Blue 6.5 Mixed Doubles captain, Eamon Twomey.
