One word is all you need to define what is happening in the faith community of Castle Pines North (CPN), and that word is progress. This year, Solid Life Christian Center marks its fourth year in CPN. God’s Grace Community Church, which is currently housed in a modified retail space in Lone Tree, is also in the early phases of planning for an eventual home in the Lagae Ranch area.

A Catholic Church is also planned for the Lagae Ranch community, though the Archdiocese of Colorado Springs (which has jurisdiction over Catholic Churches in Douglas County), has no plans to begin construction in the near future.

“We will hold on to the parcel of land in the Lagae Area for future use of some sort by the Church,” said Bob Doerfler, the finance officer for the diocese. “Right now, though, we are focusing on other projects in the area, including the construction of a school at the Pax Christi parish in Highlands Ranch.”

Building and growth, of course, are just a small part of what these congregations are doing. Here is what is happening in the coming months:

Castle Pines Community Church
Meets at Buffalo Ridge Elementary;

Services at Castle Pines Community Church are held every Sunday at 10 a.m. and feature a mixture of traditional and contemporary worship. Easter services will be held at regular worship times on Sunday, March 23.

Christ the King Presbyterian Church
Meets at DCS Montessori School;

Family worship begins each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and includes Kid’s Church.

Beginning February 10, Christ the King Pastor Dan Weidman will conduct a series of sermons during regularly-scheduled Sunday services on the attributes of Jesus Christ. The series will continue every Sunday until Easter, and will examine seven “I am” statements made by Jesus.

“These statements are self-portraits of a person who is beyond this world and yet is close to each of us,” said Weidman. “But you can’t see him with your eyes alone. You’ll need to look with your heart.”

This newest addition to the churches that meet in CPN is looking forward to a permanent home in CPN, though it will be some time yet before construction begins. God’s Grace will eventually call Lagae Ranch home. “When the time comes, we’ll be looking for community input on our building,” said lead Pastor David Jensen. “We are looking to be an integral part of the community.”

In addition to regular services on Easter, God’s Grace will also hold an additional Sunday service at 8 a.m. at their Lone Tree location and an Easter evening service at 5 p.m. at the CPN Community Center.

Solid Life Christian Center

Sunday services begin at 10 a.m.; classes for children are provided.

Solid Life will host special Easter services, Sunday, March 23 at 10 a.m. and will include an Easter choir, special music and an inspirational message.

Solid Life will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for all CPN residents this year on Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at Coyote Ridge Park. (Rain date: Saturday, March 22.) Coffee, goodies and 12,000 Easter Eggs will be distributed!

Prior to its Easter Festivities, Solid Life will observe an important milestone – church services on March 9 will commemorate the church’s fourth anniversary in CPN.

“Solid Life Christian Center is an embodiment of the Castle Pines community,” said Becky Stutzman, who is co-pastor with her husband, Russ. “We are currently exploring options for a permanent place to call home in CPN.”
