CP Athletics kicks off first season in CPN

by Terri Wiebold

More than 185 children kicked off the first season with Castle Pines Athletics, a new recreational youth sports program for local children ages four to twelve. The spring season featured 13 soccer teams of children ages four to eight.

All soccer practices are held in Castle Pines North (CPN) and games are played on Saturday mornings at Daniel’s Gate Park and the Retreat Park. Fields for the program are provided by the Castle Pines North Metro District.

“Parents in the community are thrilled to have recreational youth sports in Castle Pines North,” said Lane Roberts, director of the program. “The Metro District has been so accommodating in offering field times for our local children and we are extremely grateful for their efforts in helping us start this new program.”

The spring program will also offer volleyball camps and cheerleading camps, set to begin in April.

This summer, Castle Pines Athletics will be taking recreation one step further. The program will offer summer camps for children ages four to twelve, right here in CPN.

“Coach Joe Bishop, the physical education instructor for American Academy will be leading our summer camp program,” said Roberts. “All of our camp coaches are educators and/or athletes that have years of experience in working with children.”

The summer camp program offers a variety of 10 one-week camps to choose from. All summer camps will be held at local neighborhood parks in CPN. Some of the camps offered include: Camp Castle Pines, Castle Pines All Stars, soccer camps, volleyball camps and cheerleading camps. Castle Pines Athletics will also offer T-ball and baseball this summer.

“Other than the Castle Crocs, the kids in Castle Pines North have no organized recreation whatsoever. Everyone has to drive out of CPN,” said Roberts. “With this new program, we allow kids to play right here at home in CPN.”

Roberts says the local sponsors for Castle Pines Athletics have been amazing. “We could not have launched this program without their generosity.”

Special thanks to the spring sponsors for Castle Pines Athletics: Dr. Andrew Dunbar with Castle Pines Orthodontics, Play it Again Sports of Castle Rock, Dr. Lisa Fox with Colorado Kids Pediatric Dentistry and Geoff Newman with CPN’s Daz Bog Coffee.
