County website offers tips on responsible pet ownership

Responsible pet ownership is the focus of a new website recently launched by Douglas County and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The site includes answers to the most frequently asked questions about the care and management of pets, lost and found animals, pets and disaster preparedness, Douglas County laws associated with pet identification, information on spay and neutering, and more.
“More than half of all households in Douglas County are also the home of one or more pets,” said Joe Stafford, Douglas County Animal Services. “Owning a pet brings obligations and responsibilities not only to the pet owner, but to the community,” said Stafford. “At Douglas County Animal Services we strive to ensure that animals, their owners, and neighbors live safely and in harmony.”
