What if your smartphone was also your gateway to the real-time waiting room experience at Douglas County’s Motor Vehicle, Driver License, or Recording offices – before making the destination decision to renew your vehicle registration, your license, or your passport?
With more than one million total customer transactions occurring in the Douglas County Motor Vehicle, Driver License and Recording divisions annually, Douglas County Clerk and Recorder Merlin Klotz once again turned to technology, allowing customers of the clerk’s office who prefer a face-to-face transaction more control over their service experience.
Visit www.DouglasDrives.com and you will see current wait times for each Douglas County Motor Vehicle office location and the county’s Driver License location in Castle Rock.
“While acknowledging that wait times at all motor vehicle locations vary depending on the day of the month, day of the week, and time of day, by first seeking out wait times for motor vehicle service, you can decide which office to visit, or to delay your visit until the wait time is shorter,” said Klotz. “Even with the new wait-times tool, citizens are still advised not to visit at month-end or near a holiday when services are often at peak demand.” he added.
Visit the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder’s web page to learn about other services, as well as answers to frequently-asked questions.
“In our Recording office – on days just before a month’s end, school and holiday breaks – customers could have a waiting time of more than 45 minutes. This is primarily due to the volume for those pursuing a passport with the same deadlines and urgency in mind,” said Klotz. “We ask everyone to plan ahead, and use the wait-times tool as a guide,” he concluded.
