County funds available for veterans

If you know a Douglas County veteran needing emergency assistance with housing, food, transportation, employment, mental health care or other urgent concerns, direct him or her to the Douglas County Veteran’s Service Office (VSO). Funding received from a grant from the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs for eligible vets is available for the rest of 2024 and 2025.

The VSO provides access to special programs and services for vets, while also assisting them with applications for benefits, employment assistance, medical and mental health care, and coordination to other services, such as transportation. The VSO also helps surviving spouses and family members with claims for pension, disability, burial reimbursements and more.

To learn more about the VSO programs and to apply for funding, visit douglas.co.us/veterans-service-office/emergency-assistance-funds/; call 303-663-6200; or email veterans_services@douglas.co.us.
