Community Mourns Loss of Teaching Assistant and High School Student
The Buffalo Ridge community has suffered the loss of educational assistant Jaqueline Blecha. Blecha and her daughter, Ashley Martin, a sophomore at Rock Canyon High School, were killed in an apparent double-murder suicide in September. The school reported Blecha missing when she failed to show up for work.
Blecha had been a staff member at Buffalo Ridge for the past few years and an employee of the Douglas County School District since 2000. “Tragedies like this hit our school community very hard,” said Whei Wong, Director of Communications for Douglas County Schools.
Blecha and her daugher lived in Castle Rock, but had many ties to the Castle Pines North community and will be greatly missed.
