Colorado Gives Day is December 10
Tuesday, December 10 is Colorado Gives Day (CGD), a day to celebrate and support Colorado nonprofits. Although year-round giving is important and easy, CGD remains an annual tradition of Coloradans as a year-end push to donate to important causes.
The CGD voice provides a platform to spread awareness for all types and sizes of nonprofits. As of October 1, there were 263 Douglas County nonprofits registered with CGD. The categories include animals; art, culture and humanities; human services; housing and shelter; environment; education; food, agriculture and nutrition; mental health and health care; and civil rights and advocacy.
Douglas County Community Foundation (DCCF) is the regional champion for Douglas County-based nonprofits that participate in CGD through Douglas County Gives and the “give where you live” campaign.
DCCF provides leadership and responsible stewardship of philanthropic resources to enrich the lives of every resident in Douglas County. According to DCCF Director of Development Kirsten Swanson, “We are committed to promoting, growing awareness of and providing support to local nonprofit organizations serving the needs within our community.” She continued, “Douglas County Gives is a shining example of the impact we can make by joining forces with our community and nonprofit partners. With that, our annual Douglas County Nonprofit Giving Guide is a resource for anyone wanting to learn about the wide range of philanthropic organizations located within the county, and it is a tool that can be used to quickly support the nonprofit of your choice on Colorado Gives Day and throughout the year.” To view the 2024 Giving Guide, visit dccf.org after Thanksgiving or watch for it in your local News Press newspaper (on your driveway) Thursday, November 28.
CGD was created in 2010 and Coloradans have proven to be generous. The CGD report from 2023 highlights the growth in 14 years. Donations are up from $8 million to $54 million; the number of donors has increased from 12,540 to 92,145; the number of nonprofits receiving donations grew from 527 to 3,682; and the number of donations in 2023 (242,225) is more than 10 times of those in 2010 (20,119).
Every day is a good day to give. By supporting organizations through CGD on December 10, or on any other day, donors can rest assured that funds are going to vetted 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Colorado. The CGD website provides the perfect mechanism for donors to search for organizations by category and location, and enables donations to multiple organizations in one transaction.
