City’s new council committees
Jeffrey Huff, Mayor
City of Castle Pines North
by Elizabeth Wood West
The City of Castle Pines North (CPN) recently established four new advisory committees “to promote and protect the best interests of the citizens of CPN with respect to community needs and to provide for more efficient operation and management of the city.”
City council designated two council members to serve on each of the committees. Mayor Jeffrey Huff will serve as an ex officio member of each committee. The council committees are as follows:
Public Works Committee
(public works, utilities, parks)
– Councilperson John Ewing.
Public Safety Committee
(professional services, communications, public safety)
– Councilpersons Shelley Hamilton-Bruer and Doug Gilbert;
Budget Committee
(budget, finance)
– Councilperson Doug Gilbert;
Economic Development Committee
(economic development, urban renewal)
– Councilperson Kim Hoffman.
The city invites citizen participation on the committees. Any CPN citizen interested in serving on a committee must complete an application. City council may conduct interviews with citizen candidates and will appoint them to committees based upon qualifications and experience as it relates to the departments and functions of the committee.
Citizen appointments to the council committees are three-year staggered terms, with appointees initially serving two, two-year terms so as to allow for staggered terms. The committees will hold regular meetings, no more frequently than monthly and no less frequently than quarterly.
All committee meetings are open to the public. Agendas will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of a meeting at city offices, 7501 Village Square Drive, Suite 100, and the CPN Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive.
