City of Castle Pines
Submitted by the City of Castle Pines
The City of Castle Pines is excited to announce the beginning of its Parks and Recreation Comprehensive (PaRC) Plan process with Logan Simpson, the firm contracted to lead the project. Through this process, Logan Simpson will gather information about Castle Pines’ existing recreation facilities and resident preferences to make recommendations on what recreation projects the City should pursue in the future. The project is scheduled to be complete by November.
Community engagement is a vital part of this project, and the public will be asked to provide its input throughout the plan process. The first phase will consist of resident surveys.
In April, a survey was mailed to every household within the City of Castle Pines to gain feedback on current recreation satisfaction levels. Participants may mail the completed survey in the self-addressed, postage paid envelope by May 13, or respond electronically through the link printed on the survey.
An online survey will also be available to the general public from April 18 to May 13 at www.surveymonkey.com/r/CastlePinesParks2 with similar questions. This survey will not be statistically valid, but will still provide critical information in determining recreation needs and priorities.
Other public engagement events will take place throughout the year; those dates will be announced at a later time. Subscribe to receive project updates and event announcements at www.castlepinesgov.com/parks-rec-plan.
The PaRC Plan dovetails with the City’s recently adopted community Comprehensive Plan. While the Comprehensive Plan addresses several key community components, recreation was a high priority according to residents. Of all the feedback received, increased recreational opportunities was by far the most common request. Residents mentioned the desire for a recreational facility/center most frequently followed by the need for additional trails, open spaces, and recreation programs.
