City establishes EDC

by Terri Wiebold

The Castle Pines North (CPN) city council voted in February to establish a City Economic Development Committee.

According to council member Chris Dooley, this five-member advisory committee of city council members, business leaders, and CPN residents will advance the interests of the community by promoting economic growth in the city of Castle Pines North.

“Our charge is to attract the right businesses into the area, to help find and recommend incentives to ensure sustainable growth, and to assist their place in our commerce,” stated Dooley.

Additionally, the committee plans to assist the existing businesses in growing by making available to citizens useful resources such as educational materials and business promotional tools.

Top on the priority list is an inventory assessment of commercial space, including what is vacant, what is leased, and how it is zoned. The Committee is also interested in citizen’s recommendations for the vacant lot at the northeast corner of Castle Pines Parkway and Beverly Boulevard
