City, CPN Metro District meet to discuss integration options
CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., March 17, 2010—Castle Pines North City Council and Castle Pines North Metropolitan District Board held a joint meeting, open to the public, March 16 to discuss potential cooperative integration options. This was the first of a series of joint meetings on this topic. The public will be made aware of additional times and dates of the next meetings, and are encouraged to attend.
Both parties mutually agreed to create a committee consisting of two representatives from each body. Ward 1 Councilperson Jennifer Havercroft and Ward 3 Councilperson John Ewing will represent the City. Board members Bill Santos and Dwight Zemp will represent the Metro District. In addition, a communications vehicle that would jointly dispense ongoing and accurate information to citizens is being discussed.
The integration process is important to CPN residents and businesses. Both the City and the Metro District agreed that expeditiously moving forward toward a cooperative integration process will save considerable fees and expenses for CPN residents. Integration options will be discussed at future committee meetings.
Mayor Jeffrey Huff and City Council members John Ewing, Shelley Hamilton-Bruer, Jennifer Havercroft, Kim Hoffman and Doug Gilbert represented the City. President Andy Rhodes and board members Bruce Thompson and Bill Santos represented the Metro District.
The Castle Pines North Metro District is a special district that was established in 1984. The Metro District provides water, wastewater and storm water services, and oversees the District-owned parks, trails and open spaces within the community.
