Christmas tree recycling is a good idea
By Patte Smith
As the holiday season winds down and the decorations get stowed, those who keep the tradition of a live tree have the choice to recycle them. Whether putting the tree curbside or taking it to recycle, here are some tips to follow:
Remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, garland, plastic wrap, tree stands, wire, rope, nails, etc. before disposing of trees. Live trees with artificial snow sprayed on the branches cannot be mulched. Below is a list of pick up / drop off locations for tree recycling, but these are subject to change. Contact phone numbers are listed below for the entities and organizations that offer recycling.
Castle Pines
Castle Pines Boy Scout Troop 316 is hosting its annual Christmas tree recycling fundraiser on Saturday, January 5. Residents can email xmastree.troop316cpn@troopmaster or call 720-773-0193 to schedule a pick up on January 5 only. Place your bare tree with your tax-deductible donation (recommended donation is $10 – $20/tree) at curbside by 8 a.m. with your donation secured to the top of the tree.
