Thirty-one years after its founding by Senior Pastor Dr. Jim Dixon,
Cherry Hills Community Church held installation services for a new
senior pastor, Shane Farmer, last month. Dixon announced plans to
retire in March, launching a national search for his replacement that
culminated in September when the congregation unanimously approved
Farmer as the next Senior Pastor.
Farmer and his wife Wendy and their two young sons moved to
Colorado from the Chicago area, where he has been serving as
discipleship director at Willow Creek Community Church under founding
and Senior Pastor Bill Hybels. He has an M.A. from Bethel Seminary.
Prior to being chosen for his new position, Farmer had been a frequent visitor to Colorado over the past decade to ski and hike.
“We always talked about living in Colorado and raising our family here,” said Farmer.
Dixon will continue to serve the church in an emeritus role.
