The Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce (CPCC) staff and members of the business community embraced “Laissez les bons temps rouler” (Cajun-French for “Let the good times roll”) in February and celebrated its fifth annual banquet Mardi Gras-style at Cielo at Castle Pines. Approximately 140 guests attended this year’s event, many of them wearing glittery masks and strands of gold, green, and purple Mardi Gras beads. A Cajun buffet dinner was served and enjoyed at tables local businesses had festively decorated to complement this year’s theme.

The evening culminated with the presentation of the chamber’s annual award recipients. Wendell Cummings, an AFLAC independent agent, received the Ambassador of the Year award; Sheriff Dave Weaver received the Citizen of the Year award; and Terri Wiebold, The Castle Pines Connection’s publisher and editor received the Business Person of the Year award.

It is truly an honor to be awarded Business Person of the Year,” said Wiebold. “I am in the business of sharing stories and connecting people, and the participation of our business partners and the residents in Castle Pines make my job a pleasure.”

CPCC president Sharon Kollmar commented that the banquet is a celebration of successes during the past year and a look forward at the year to come.

In addition to ongoing weekly and monthly gatherings, CPCC’s plans for 2014 include its annual golf tournament (see page 47 for details), Oktoberfest, Trick or Treat Street, and Holly Jolly Breakfast with Santa.

The CPCC was founded in 2008 and has close to 200 members. For further information, visit www.castlepineschamber.com. To view a slideshow of the Mardi Gras event, visit www.castlepinesconnection.com and click on “Photo Album.”
