Beginning late this summer, Centura Health, the faith-based, non-profit hospital and health care provider, will start construction on phase one of its 50-acre medical campus. The campus will be located on the northeast corner of Meadows Parkway and Prairie Hawk Drive, in The Meadows development in Castle Rock. Centura Health chose the site because of its accessibility to and visibility from I-25.
“Centura Health believes wholeheartedly that health care should transcend well beyond standard medical delivery to focus on the role of genetics, the environment and lifestyle behaviors, stated President and CEO of Centura Health Gary Campbell. “Our ‘outside-in’ thinking enables us to be your strategic partner in addressing your immediate and future health needs – even before we break ground on the first phase of the new Castle Rock medical campus in late summer 2010.”
Phase One – Medical Offices and ER
The $23.6 million phase one project will include a two-story 40,000-square-foot medical office building and a one-story 20,000-square-foot emergency room (ER) and imaging center, with a helipad for emergency patient transport.
The ER will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing emergency care for minor illnesses/ injuries and major medical events. ER staff will include board certified emergency physicians and nurses who specialize in emergency care, and will offer the same resources as a hospital’s main ER such as laboratory services, radiology, and CAT scans.
According to Centura Health, ten percent of patients are admitted into the hospital following an emergency room visit. If a patient is in need of an additional level of care, they will be transferred to another hospital within the Centura Health network.
Phase Two – Hospital
The medical campus will also be the future home of a full-service hospital. However, details such as the number of beds or available services are still in the planning stages. Centura Health anticipates being able to request funding for phase two in the fall of 2011.
Phase one is expected to be completed and ready to provide services to the public by late 2011. For further information, please visit
