Celebrating health in November

In November, three important events focus on awareness and education about dietary lifestyles and health conditions – World Vegan Month, American Diabetes Month and Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month. These observances highlight the importance of nutrition and its impact on our well-being. For many, exploring plant-based or gluten-free options can be a beneficial way to improve overall health, manage chronic conditions and promote sustainable eating practices.

World Vegan Month honors the benefits of a vegan lifestyle which excludes all animal products, including meat, fish, dairy and eggs. The observance highlights the ethical and environmental reasons behind veganism and also focuses on the health benefits.

Events around the world include vegan food festivals, educational workshops and community outreach to spread awareness about the positive impacts of plant-based eating. A plant-based diet is centered around whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and is low in saturated fat and cholesterol while being high in fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. November is also American Diabetes Month, a crucial time for raising awareness about diabetes. According to the CDC, the condition affects 37.3 million Americans with cases increasing at an alarming rate. The campaign aims to provide information about what diabetes is, how to prevent it, the importance of diabetes management, and the diet and lifestyle changes that can help control the disease.

November is also Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about celiac disease and gluten sensitivities.
