Castle Rock Rec Center Continues with Expansion and Renovations

The $6.6 million dollar expansion and renovation project at the Castle Rock Recreation Center recently opened newly completed areas to the public. Plans for the completion of the leisure pool are still on track for this spring.

In January, the preschool program held an open house for parents to view the newly finished classrooms and toddler area. The New Year also brought the opening of a new fitness studio and cardiovascular theater. With a host of new cardio and weight machines, an expanded running track and a new fitness class studio, the recreation center has something to offer everyone.

Currently visible from the exterior of the building, steel beams are being installed for the outside portion of the pool area. Plans for a grand opening celebration of the new multi-use leisure pool, lazy river, exterior water slides, and zero-depth entry swimming pool are set for spring of 2006. When complete, the project will provide the much needed space to accommodate the high demand for aquatics classes.

Castle Pines North residents may utilize the Castle Rock Recreation Center and sign up for classes; however, since the community is not within the Town limits of Castle Rock, all CPN residents must pay non-resident entrance fees and have no priority when registering for classes.

The Castle Pines North 1999 Parks and Recreation Master Plan did include an indoor recreation center for the community; however, in 2002, CPN voters narrowly defeated a proposal to build the recreation center. Homeowners should direct any questions about a future community recreation center to the CPN Metro District’s Parks and Open Space Manager Charlie Fagan at charlie@cpnmd.org.
