Castle Rock Movie Theatre to Open this Fall

One movie theatre will open in Castle Rock by the end of 2005, not two as previously reported.

Plans to open Castle Rock Stadium 12 are running full steam ahead. The theatre, which is scheduled to open around Thanksgiving, will have stadium seating for 2,200.

The Stadium 12 will be owned and operated by Colorado Cinemas, which is based in Aurora. The company operates eight other theaters with 85 screens in Colorado.

The theatre is being built at the southeast corner of Meadows Parkway and Prairie Hawk Drive, and has been designed to be the centerpiece of a proposed “town center” complete with restaurants and shops.

According to the Douglas County News Press, plans have stalled on a second future Castle Rock movie theatre, which would have had 14-screens and been located at the north end of The Outlets at Castle Rock.

That project had been proposed by developer Jack Vickers III, who was the original developer of Castle Pines North, Castle Pines Village and The Outlets at Castle Rock.
