In October, the City of Castle Pines and the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce hosted an inaugural event “Fall Fest” in the former Safeway shopping center, the Village Square business district and in The Village at Castle Pines shops on Happy Canyon. Hundreds in the community ventured out for the fun and frolic of the season. Entertainment included face painting, a photo booth, bungee trampolines, bouncy house and slide, blow-up axe throwing, and a horse-drawn carriage.

Hundreds of trick-or-treaters, kids of all ages and costumed pets ventured out to celebrate the fun and frolic of the season at Fall Fest 2021. On Saturday, October 23, the City of Castle Pines and the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce hosted a pumpkin patch and several simultaneous events, including Trick or Treat Street in the former Safeway shopping center, the Village Square business district and in The Village at Castle Pines shops on Happy Canyon.

“The Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce was extremely excited to partner with the City of Castle Pines to bring this to our community,” said Chamber Executive Director Tina Hansen. “We definitely plan to make this an annual event.”

Entertainment included face painting, a photo booth, bungee trampolines, bouncy house and slide, blow-up axe throwing, a bubble machine and a horse-drawn carriage. A DJ provided fun music, Berg Haus provided hot dogs, brats and beer, and the Kona Ice truck was the perfect complement to freshly-spun cotton candy.

Fall fest fun

Trick or Treat Street had more than 50 local businesses handing out candy, and kids and adults alike were on parade in their costumes. There was even a costume contest for pets.

The evening event was a drive-in movie, Goosebumps, which was booked to capacity within two weeks of announcement. With limited space in the commercial districts, the event planners decided on a vacant site in The Canyons neighborhood on the east side of I-25 that will eventually be a city park.

“We capped the reservations at 150 cars to make sure all attendees had a good view of the screen,” stated City Events Coordinator Jolene Richardson. “We are thrilled with such great reception to the idea and are hopeful we can bring another drive-in experience next year,” she noted.

Hansen added, “We would like to thank the City for all of their support and resources, as well as the businesses in the community that showed up in full force to make this inaugural event so special.”
