Carpool Lot May Add Future Bus Service
With gas prices soaring, more Castle Pines North commuters are taking advantage of the new car pool lot that recently opened in the northeast corner of the I-25 interchange. The new parking lot currently provides 108 parking spaces and has the ability to expand to more than 500.
Currently, the lot is used by commuters who meet and carpool to another destination. For individuals looking to utilize the lot, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), offers a program called “RideArrangers.” This program provides a free ride-matching service to help commuters find carpool partners. CPN residents are eligible to utilize this service and should log onto DRCOG.org or call 303-458- POOL (7665), to participate in the program.
In the future, bus services may be offered from the commuter lot. According to Alex Larson, Principal Traffic Engineer with Douglas County Public Works, Front Range Express (FREX), is considering adding a stop at the CPN carpool lot. FREX is a commuter service which currently has stops in Fountain, Colorado Springs, Monument, Castle Rock and Denver. To determine if CPN residents would utilize the bus service, a survey will be sent out in conjunction with the Castle Pines North Master Association, the County and FREX.
Watch for the survey and visit www.cpnhoa.org for more details about FREX.
