BUSINESS IN THE PINES TO HOST CANDIDATE FORUMS; CITY OF CASTLE PINES NORTH TO ELECT FIRST NINE OFFICIALS
Castle Pines North, Col., (Jan. 14, 2008) — Business in the Pines will host community forums to introduce candidates running for positions with the new City of Castle Pines North (CPN).
Voters will elect the city’s first nine officials in a February 12 mail ballot election coordinated by Douglas County. During the forums, CPN residents will have the opportunity to learn more about 21 candidates running for mayor, clerk, treasurer and six city council positions.
Three forums will be held – one for each of the three wards of the new city. City council members running for their specific ward will answer questions from Business in the Pines Chairman of the Board and forum moderator Paul Arvidson. Candidates for mayor, clerk and treasurer will also participate in the forums.
“The mayor, treasurer, city clerk and council members for the new city will have the responsibility to establish and operate the city for the benefit of residents and businesses in these neighborhoods. It is crucial that these leaders have knowledge and understanding of complex issues that are part of this community,” said Arvidson. “A commitment from city officials to serve the citizens should require a commitment from the citizens to know their city officials.”
The forums are scheduled for: Ward 1, Tuesday, January 29; Ward 2, Wednesday, January 30; and Ward 3, Wednesday, February 6. For a map of neighborhoods in each CPN Ward, go to:

All three forums will be held at the CPN Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive, and will begin at 7 p.m. To learn more about the upcoming election or for a list of candidates, please visit www.cpnhoa.org.
