Buffalo Ridge Names New Principal
by Belinda Paredes
After an intensive search and interview process, Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) has named a new principal. Allyson “Ally” Berggren, an assistant principal from Colleyville, Texas, was named principal of BRE in February. She will officially start her position on July 1.
Berggren has been assistant principal of Bransford Elementary School for the past four years, where she implemented a district-wide summer enrichment program. She has also demonstrated a commitment to community service through various projects, notably a sister school endeavor with a less-fortunate school in Mexico.
Prior to becoming an administrator, Berggren taught students with disabilities and gifted students. She also served as a math specialist and a behavior specialist. Berggren holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, and a Master’s of Education in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.
The members of the BRE Principal Selection Team were: Lesia Rehl (SAC Chair); Sandy Haworth (BREA Rep); Diane Keely (Community Member-At-Large); Gina Valenti, Jami Smith, Phyllis McCartney (Teachers); Danielle Peddie, Laura Swenson (Classified Reps); Lynn Bisesi (Building Resource Teacher); Lisa Phillips (TTE Principal); Doug Hartman (HR Director); Annette Fante (Director of Schools); Brianna Bassett, Quincy Schurr, Quinn Kennedy, Garrett Waltermire (Dream Team Student Reps).
