The fifth grade class at Buffalo Ridge Elementary School (BRE) has completed their last gym class, written their last paper and calculated their last math problem in their career as elementary school students. Next fall it will be on to middle school.

As kindergarteners in summer and fall of 2004, the fifth grade class was the last to start down the path of education on the four-track system at BRE.

In addition to being the last “track” class the BRE graduating class of 2010 is also the largest class at the school. With each new school year the class would either have a teacher follow the class into the new grade, or a new teacher was hired to accommodate the large group.

“While this group is large in numbers, they are also large in heart – creativity, leadership and academics,” said BRE Principal Ally Berggren. “I know without a shadow of a doubt that these fine students will serve as positive role models and responsible citizens in their very bright futures,” she continued.

Even with these unique traits, the BRE graduating class of 2010 shared some of the same experiences as well as started some new traditions that all make up the experience of becoming an alum at BRE.

From the first field trip at the Berry Patch Farms to the last field trip of reenacting the Revolutionary War at Chatfield State Park, to talent shows and art shows to Accelerated Reader tests and Mad Minute Math tests, these fifth graders are set for the future.
