Local Brownie Troop 597 did some good in the world and sponsored a dinner for nearly 40 families at Warren Village, a transitional housing program for previously homeless single parent families.
The entire dinner was prepared and served by the troop. From choosing their menu of turkey tetrazzini, to creating place mats with inspirational messages like “believe in yourself,” to cleaning up and loading everything back in the cars, the girls worked hard. The troop also kept the children of Warren Village entertained while their moms ate.
“They were little ladies. They were amazing,” said Deborah Johansen, troop leader.
In anticipation of their visit, the troop ran a gently used book drive and each family left with some great books and a box of Girl Scout cookies, donated through the Hometown Hero program of the cookie sales.
