Bridge Detours and I-25 Lane Closures Scheduled
During June 24 to July 1, the Colorado Department of Transportation will periodically detour traffic at I-25 and Castle Pines Parkway. Alternate routes are highly recommended.
Residents can expect to see various delays on I-25, Castle Pines Parkway, and all access ramps during the following dates and times:
Friday, June 24 –
5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
CDOT will close the I-25 southbound exit ramp at Castle Pines Parkway from 5:00 a.m. until noon. The I-25 northbound exit ramp at Castle Pines Parkway will be closed between noon and 3:30 p.m. All traffic will be detoured. CDOT will notify drivers via messages on the I-25 variable message boards.
Monday, June 27 –
5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The I-25 southbound on-ramp will be closed from 5 a.m. to noon, and the I-25 northbound on-ramp will be closed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All traffic will be detoured.
Tuesday & Wednesday, June 28 & 29 –
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During these days, the northbound and southbound on-ramps at Castle Pines Parkway and I-25 will be closed for approximately four hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for striping. The exact time of the detour is unknown. All traffic will be detoured.
Sunday – Thursday, June 26-June 30 –
8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Median work along I-25 will close one lane of I-25 beginning at 8:30 p.m. and two lanes by 9:30 p.m. Two Colorado State Troopers will be on site during the lane closures.
Monday – Friday, June 27-July 1 –
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Median work, signing and roadway striping will prompt various right and left lane closures during these dates. All traffic will be detoured.
Traffic Congestion at I-25 at Castle Pines Parkway
On Friday, June 24, the final configuration of the Castle Pines Parkway and I-25 southbound off-ramp will open to traffic. Southbound vehicles exiting at Castle Pines Parkway will now encounter a stop sign at the corner of the exit ramp and Castle Pines Parkway, and will have an exclusive acceleration lane which should speed up previous traffic delays.
If it is determined that this configuration still causes traffic back-ups on I-25, another configuration will be quickly developed.
“Congestion problems had been occurring because there is simply too much traffic using the ramp between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and there was not enough right-of-way during the project,” said Nabil Haddad of CDOT. “We were unable to build a wide radius turn with an island for a ‘YIELD’ rather than a ‘STOP’ condition. However, this phase of the project is over, so we don’t have to worry about this problem anymore.”
Project Completion Date Remains the Same
The estimated date of completion for the bridge project is July 8.
The Castle Pines North Master Association will publish any known detours and closures in advance via e-mail so that travelers may plan their driving routes accordingly.
