Boy meets girl turns into happily ever after
From 1999 to 2002, Jeremy Gamble and Nicole Tobey were back door neighbors in HOA1. Jeremy was 5 and Nicole was 6 when they first met. As youngsters, the two frequented each other’s homes and have great memories of playing PlayStation with Nicole’s siblings, looking at the stars through her family’s telescope, and playing with toy cars.
In 2002, the two lost touch when Nicole and her family moved to another house in the neighborhood. Years passed — different schools, different friends, different post-graduation plans — until a chance encounter on Match.com reconnected the two in 2019, nearly two decades later.
Nicole is a petroleum engineer and Jeremy is in construction management. They spent their early to mid-20s with work, friends and, of course, dating. Since only first names are used on dating apps, neither had any idea they once knew each other until the first date.
“There is a great debate about our first date,” said Jeremy, and laughed together with Nicole. Jeremy’s friends were quick to proclaim that Nicole was his soulmate; however, Nicole had been using online dating cautiously and was not convinced straight away.
“He is such a gentleman. He asked me on a second date and I thought, if nothing else, we can be old friends,” said Nicole.
It turns out dating went very well. The two fell in love, became engaged 18 months later and married in July 2022 – 23 years after first meeting each other as children.
The two lived for a time in Lone Tree but came back to their roots in Castle Pines last year. They bought a house in HOA2 – closer to family, where the pace is a little slower and where they know so many people. In fact, their home is just across from family friends of Nicole – places she once visited time and again back in high school. “It’s definitely been full circle,” said Nicole.
Jeremy and Nicole welcomed their first child in September, a daughter, Elaine Grace. She was named after Nicole’s grandmother with a beautifully complementary middle name selected by Jeremy. “It has been a whirlwind. We are very excited,” said Nicole.
Jeremy is obviously smitten with Elaine. “She is truly a gift from God and an answer to our prayers. We’re completely head over heels in love with her and cannot wait to see how she grows,” he shared.
The family plans to stay in Castle Pines indefinitely unless work happens to take them on a grand adventure. “Castle Pines is home. It is our community. There are 100 people [including baby Elaine’s grandparents, who are over the moon with her arrival] within a three-minute drive, who can come love on us in whatever capacity they can — and I mean that wholeheartedly,” concluded Jeremy.
